Brenda's story
A career shaped by community, advocacy, and public service.
Brenda López Romero came to Georgia from Mexico as a child. She became the first person in her family to graduate from college, earning bachelor’s degrees in political science and sociology from Georgia State University before receiving her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law.
Her early legal work included service with the Farmworker Division of Georgia Legal Services Program, the ACLU of Georgia’s immigrant-rights work, and Catholic Charities’ Immigration Legal Services. She later established her own practice serving families in immigration and nationality matters.
In 2016, Brenda became the first Latina elected to the Georgia General Assembly. Her years of legal work and public service inform a practical approach: listen carefully, explain the options plainly, and treat every client with dignity.
